John or Jonathan?

For I think the second time in John Michael's life we had a discussion on how we named him. I explained to him that from his Great Great Great Grandfather (I think that's right) the first born son's name is John. I told him I liked that name, and I had also thought about Jonathan. He asked me why I didn't choose Jonathan. I told him that his Daddy said the tradition was John. John Michael said, "Mommy, but John is in Jonathan!" I explained to him that I LOVED his name. I told him I was glad we named him John Michael.

The next thing that came out of his mouth was so sweet.
He said, "Mom, I have a great grandma that isn't dead yet."
I said, "Yes, you're right. Great Grandma Jeannette lives in Florida."
John Michael said, "Mommy, I want to go see her!"
I replied, "She would love to know you want to see her."
John Michael said, "Mom, we have to fly there. It is too far to drive. It is 101 miles away."
I said, "No, honey I think it is 1,000 miles away."
John Michael replied, "Oh mommy, that is too far to fly or drive!"
Mom said, "Sweety, we could drive there. Let's ask Daddy. It would be a fun road trip!"
John Michael replied excitedly, "Okay! I would love to see Great Grandma!"
Mom said, "Do you know Disney is there?"
John Michael sighed, "I don't like Disney. Disney just has girl stuff."

I told him that Disney had boy and girl stuff! He said that they might make him play with girl stuff. I explained to him that I liked playing with both boy and girl toys, and that it wasn't like they were going to ask him to wear a dress. He LAUGHED so hard!
John Michael said, "Mommy, I don't wear dresses!"

So now we have to talk to Daddy about taking a trip to Florida sometime soon. I don't think that will be happening any time soon since Daddy is going on a business trip and John Michael will be starting preschool soon.
